ELMS – Racing Team Turkey scores pole position at the 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring

Racing Team Turkey's #34 ORECA 07-Gibson is in pole position at this weekend's 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring, second round of the 2021 European Le Mans Series season. The start of the race in Austria will be given tomorrow, Sunday, at 11:00 local time.

At the 2021 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring qualifying session, a rookie driver took the pole in the LMP2 class. Logan Sergeant, at the wheel of Racing Team Turkey's #34 ORECA 07-Gibson, clocked the fastest time 1:20.596. Teammate Charlie Eastwood: "This is a great outcome because we were looking to do things right. Logan's time is incredible. The weather was very unpredictable and we had to make good decisions choosing our tires." Turkish driver Salih Yoluc rounds out this crew while Sergeant replaces Harry Tincknell for this race. Trailing Racing Team Turkey are Algarve Pro Racing #24 ORECA 07-Gibson and United Autosports' #32 ORECA 07-Gibson. The top 9 overall find themselves within a second of each other.

In LMP3, despite tricky grip conditions, Laurents Horr demonstrated his considerable talent. The German driver placed DKR Engineering's #4 Duqueine M30-D08-Nissan in pole position. Teammate Leonard Weiss: "Qualifying went perfectly, but now we have to focus on the race. It's going to be a tough one. We need to make smart tire selections."

In LMGTE, three Ferrari F488 GTE Evos nabbed the top three spots. AF Corse's #88 driven by Alessio Rovera clocked the quickest time of 1:27.200. The car was unable to take part in the 4 Hours of Barcelona and recently won this class at the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francrochamps, first round of the 2021 FIA WEC.
