This is a homecoming for Emmanuel Collard as he to returns to the Porsche marque, with which he began at Le Mans in 1995. Since then, the native of Arpajon has teamed up with Henri Pescarolo (first in 1996) before continuing in the Pescarolo team (in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012). He has many lasting memories.
What inspires you as you return here for the 19th straight year?
Emmanuel Collard: "It's a great joy for me ,as I have long believed this is my home. ProSpeed, my team was on the list of reserves and it was not until June 1st (when the announcement of the Green GT was announced) that we got our invitation. I think that it would have been difficult to end up watching the race on TV."
What is your best memory at Le Mans?
"I have many. Obviously I think the two podiums where I was successful with Henri Pescarolo (in 2005 and 2007). It was fantastic then and the enthusiasm of the crowd was fantastic. There are also mixed memories with my two Toyota years (1998, 1999). The GT-One was absolutely stunning. I still wonder how this car did not win! It had everything: an superb engine, and brilliant aero package. It's really crazy to have failed to win the race."
And this year, what is your goal?
"Our preparation was done in a hurry because of our late invitation, but the team is very experienced since it is has been present at Le Mans since 2010. Our test day went very smoothly. Francois Perrodo and Sébastien Crubile (my team mates in No.75) are newcomers to the 24 hours, but they are learning fast and very serious in their approach. Our pace is good. If we avoid the many potential pitfalls, the podium is within our reach."
