Eurasia Motorsport on the road to success

The 2015-16 Asian Le Mans Series season came to an end at Sepang last weekend and competitors are now focussed on the rest of the year. Eurasia Motorsport already has a European Le Mans Series campaign underway and is aiming high.

Competition was tough in the Asian Le Mans Series with a spectacular tussle in LM P2 between Race Performance, Eurasia Motorsport, Algarve Pro Racing and Jagonya Ayam with Eurasia. Eurasia Motorsport missed out on the championship crown but is looking to live up to its name by shining both in Europe and in Asia. Hence the Asian Le Mans Series and ELMS campaigns. The team entered both series last year and is hoping to better its fifth place.

“It’s an exciting year for Eurasia Motorsport, with a full European Le Mans Series (ELMS) campaign with Kevin Pu Jun Jin, Tristan Gommendy and Nick de Bruijn in a new Oreca 05 LMP2. Add in the new Asian Le Mans Series Sprint Cup and the full 2016-17 AsLMS and it’s going to be great year”, says Team Principal Mark Goddard.

As well as trading the Oreca 03R for the 05, the team has also signed Frenchman Tristan Gommendy for the ELMS. The former Thiriet by TDS Racing driver sees the campaign as a stepping stone towards the World Endurance Championship: “Eurasia has the means to achieve its goals. The team is really fired up and extremely ambitious. The staff and the whole technical set-up are really strong this year”. Tristan Gommendy has already set to work. This month, he headed for Chamonix in the French Alps to perfect his preparation in the healthy mountain air.
