Following hot on the heels of Graff and Extreme Limite, the Italian outfit – who brought the Ferrari 333SP its maiden win – is acquiring two Ligier JS P3s designed and built by Onroak Automotive, the construction arm of OAK Racing. The Antonio Ferrari-led operation, who tested the prototype at Magny-Cours last Friday, will have its work cut out once Asian Le Mans Series gets under way on 11 October as it will be competing in both the Asian and European championships.
Unsurprisingly, the first driver to be officially named is Giorgio Mondini who raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2009 in an Audi R10 for Team Kolles (now ByKolles). The Swiss driver is a familiar face to EuroInternational as they joined forces for the 2005 and 2007 Formula Renault 3.5 campaigns.
Back in 1995, EuroInternational took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a Ferrari 333SP (retired) entered under the name of Euromotorsport Racing, its American branch. Unfortunately, with LM P3-class cars not being admitted to the legendary race, this will not be the case in 2016.
The two EuroInternational Ligiers will however be making their racing debut in Fuji, Japan, in the opening round of the Asian LMS before joining the Ginettas on the ELMS starting grid next year.
