The pole position clinched by Harry Tincknell allowed Jota Sport to reduce by nine points its deficit with Signatech Alpine, provisional leader overall in the LM P2 class. The No.38 Zytek-Nissan is joined in the first row by the Ligier JS P2 of Thiriet by TDS Racing, who achieved the best performance at the second free practice. The Alpine A450b, Murphy Prototypes' Irish Oreca (best time at the first practice session) and the Swiss team NewBlood by Morand Racing's Morgan rounded out the top 5. The qualifying session was interrupted for a few minutes with a red flag following an incident for Race Performance's Oreca-Judd which sprayed some gravel on the track.
In LM GTE, Aston Martin scored its first pole position in the 2014 European Le Mans Series: the Vantage in sky blue and orange inspired by the Gulf colours of Stuart Hall (celebrating his birthday on Sunday, October 19th) and Roald Goethe was ahead of three Ferrari 458 Italias, with in order JMW Motorsport, AF Corse and SMP Racing. Ferrari achieved the best GTC performance with the Russian team SMP Racing (No. 71) ahead of ART Grand Prix's No 98 McLaren MP4-12C and ProSpeed Compétition's No. 75 Porsche 911 GT3 R.
The start of the 4 Hours of Estoril, final round of the 2014 European Le Mans Series, will be given at 1:30 p.m.
