After Thiriet by TDS Racing at Silverstone (Great Britain) and Jota Sport at Imola (Italy), Signatech Alpine is the third victorious team in as many races. The win came into view during the last race hour against the Zytek-Nissan of Dolan-Albuquerque-Tincknell (Jota Sport), victorious in the LM P2 class at this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans. At the wheel of Race Performance's Oreca-Judd, Michel Frey and Franck Mailleux rounded out the podium. A result that makes sense if one considers that each of these three cars lead the race for quite some time. The LM P2 race was marked by the retirement of the Ligier JS P2. Entered by Thiriet by TDS Racing, it could not finish its first ELMS race after having lost its left rear wheel.
In LM GTE, a fantastic battle pitted four Ferrari teams against one another. The 458 Italia crushed the class by finishing in the top six places. Duncan Cameron, Matt Griffin and Michele Rugolo won for AF Corse ahead of Kessel Racing and JMW Motorsport. Ferrari also claimed a podium finish in the GTC class with a one-two for the 458s of the Russian team SMP Racing by Luca Persiani, Kirill Ladygin and Aleksey Basov. A success which is also AF Corse's: technical partner to SMP, the Italian team finished third in the class.
The fourth and next-to-last round of the 2014 European Le Mans Series season will take place at Castellet at the Circuit Paul Ricard on September 14th and 15th.
