FIA WEC – 24 Hours of Le Mans: the new Porsche 911 RSR

Porsche has unveiled the 911 RSR it will field in the 2019-2020 FIA World Endurance Championship season, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 13-14 June 2020.

Defending LMGTE Pro champion in the FIA World Endurance Championship, German manufacturer Porsche has just unveiled its new 911 RSR, two units it plans to enter in the next FIA WEC season for world champions Michael Christensen-Kevin Estre and Gianmaria Bruni-Richard Lietz. The car is the result of a collaboration between drivers and engineers and has undergone several modifications. The new 911 RSR has a 6-cylinder atmospheric 515 hp engine and has already covered more than 6,000 kilometers in testing.

"We have made significant progress in the development of our car for the next three-year homologation period, especially in the complex areas of driveability, efficiency, durability and serviceability. Ninety-five percent of the car is new. The only components that we’ve kept unchanged from the predecessor are the headlights, brake system, clutch, driver’s seat and parts of the suspension," said Pascal Zurlinden, Director GT Factory Motorsport. The 911 RSR's first official appearance will take place at the Prologue for the 2019-2020 FIA World Endurance Championship in Barcelona on 23-24 July. Its first race will be Silverstone, first round of the 2019-2020 FIA WEC season on 1 September, and will take the start in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 13-14 June 2020.
