FIA WEC : Aston Martin at Spa-Francorchamps and 24 Hours of Le Mans

In the wake of victory in both LM GTE classes at Silverstone, Aston Martin Racing have entered a fifth Vantage at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps WEC and has confirmed the driver line-up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

For the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (4th of May), the British manufacturer will race a third car in the Belgian Ardennes in the LM GTE Pro class, assigned to New Zealander Richie Stanaway, Portuguese Pedro Lamy and Canadian Paul Dalla Lana (No. 99). The crews of two other Vantages present in this class are slightly modified from the 6 Hours of Silverstone, as announced last winter, Peter Dumbreck joined Darren Turner and Stefan Mücke in No.97, while Rob Bell goes to No.98 alongside Frédéric Makowiecki and Bruno Senna. In LM GTE Am, crews remain unchanged, with Christoffer Nygaard-Kristian Poulsen, Allan Simonsen (No. 95) and Jamie Campbell-Walter Road Goethe-Stuart Hall (No. 96).

These teams will be the same at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with one exception: in the Vantage No.99, Richie Stanaway will be replaced by Bill Auberlen. Also driver of the Rahal-Letterman-Lanigan team, official representative of BMW in the American Le Mans Series, he won the GT class in the second round at Long Beach on the 16th of April.

John Gaw (Team Principal Aston Martin Racing) : “It will be a big task running five cars at Spa but it’s good preparation for Le Mans and we need to ensure that our extremely high standards we set ourselves are maintained. We showed at Silverstone that we have not only managed to build, develop and prepare four cars, but we have done so to such a standard that we had no issues to speak of with any of the cars throughout the six-hour race. This is thanks to our hard-working team, which has worked tirelessly to get us off to such a solid start to the season.”

After the 6 Hours of Silverstone, first round of the FIA World Endurance Championship2013, Aston Martin lead both LM GTE Pro and LM GTE Am classes.
