FIA WEC – Glickenhaus Racing to take the start in the 8 Hours of Portimão

For the first time in its history, the FIA WEC will soon be hosted by the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal for the 8 Hours of Portimão. The Glickenhaus Racing team will field its Glickenhaus 007 LMH in the race on 11-13 June.

The provisional entry list for the upcoming 8 Hours of Portimão includes 33 competitors: four in the Hypercar class, 11 in LMP2, four in LMGTE Pro and 14 in LMGTE Am. American team Glickenhaus Racing is expected to field its highly anticipated 007 LMH. Ryan Briscoe, Romain Dumas and Richard Westbrook have been confirmed to take the wheel of the Hypercar after having contributed to its development the past few months. Glickenhaus Racing recently conducted a 30-minute endurance test at the Aragón circuit in Spain. The team will take on the Toyota GR010, winner at the 2021 Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francrochamps, as well as the Alpine A480-Gibson entered by French team Alpine Elf Matmut. The Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, first round of the season, saw a very tight race between Toyota and Alpine.

Swiss team Kessel Racing will also compete in the FIA WEC at the 8 Hours of Portimão, fielding a Ferrari F488 GTE Evo in the LMGTE Am class. The car will be entrusted to Takeshi Kimura (Japan), Mikkel Jensen (Denmark) and David Fumanelli (Italy).

After two incidents at Spa, the return of Team Project 1's #46 and #56 Porsche 911 RSR-19s is anticipated.

In the Porsche GT Team camp, Frédéric Makowiecki is set to join Gianmaria Bruni and Richard Lietz at the wheel of the #91 Porsche 911 RSR-19. Michael Christensen will share the #92 with Kevin Estre and Neel Jani.
