Eighteen cars (nine Hypercars, five LMP2s and four LMGTE Ams) will take part in the official Rookie Test on Sunday 5 November, the day after the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain, final round of the 2023 FIA WEC season.
Official rookie Josh Pierson will share the #7 Toyota GR010 with British drivers Jack Hawksworth and Ben Barnicoat. The latter two, teammates in the IMSA, executed an outstanding season in the U.S., winning the championship's GTD Pro trophy with VSR Lexus. José María López will serve as an advisor to the trio for the Rookie Test.
Lilou Wadoux, the first female driver to win an FIA WEC race (LMGTE Am) will take the wheel of the #51 Ferrari 499P winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Centenary. Last year, she tested the Toyota GR010 Hybrid. This time Wadoux will be joined by Robert Schwartzman (former F2 driver and Ferrari F1 test driver) who this year competed in the GT World Challenge.
Official rookie Nicolas Varonne will share Cadillac Racing's Cadillac V-Series.R with Kyffin Simpson, a recent winner in the European Le Mans Series with Algarve Pro Racing.
Austrian driver Thomas Preining, who just won the DTM, will test Porsche Penske Motorsport's #5 Porsche 963.
Peugeot TotalEnergies will entrust their two Peugeot 9X8s to Stoffel Vandoorne, Mikkel Jensen and official team junior driver Malthe Jakobsen. Floyd Vanwall Racing has recruited Job van Uitert and Esteban Guerrieri.
Hertz Team JOTA has selected Pietro Fittipaldi, regular driver of JOTA's ORECA LMP2, to test its Porsche 963. Proton Competition has called upon René Binder and Julien Andlauer.
For the LMP2 class, Prema Racing's #9 ORECA 07-Gibson will be shared by P.J. Hyett, Paul-Loup Chatin and Harry Tincknell. French driver Clément Novolak will hit the track in Inter Europol Competition's #34 ORECA, and the United Autosports team's #23 ORECA will go to Brazilian driver Daniel Schneider.
In LMGTE, four cars will take the start in the Rookie Test. Antoine Doquin, the third driver designated by the championship, will man Corvette Racing's Corvette C8.R along with team regular Nicky Catsburg.
AF Corse has invited Swiss driver Christoph Ulrich to test the #21 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo and Italian driver Nicola Marinangeli the #54 sister car. Lastly, Richard Mille AF Corse has brought on Lorenzo Patrese to take the wheel of its Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.
The Rookie Test is scheduled for a two-hour morning session and a three-hour afternoon session.
