A week before the Le Mans Classic, a massive crowd gathered last weekend for the Goodwood Festival of Speed, three days of a great motoring party featuring no fewer than 300 cars.
Some of them celebrated the history of the Le Mans 24 Hours: the Gulf Team Davidoff McLaren F1 GTR (1998), the Mercedes CLK GTR (1998), the Renault Alpine A443 (1978), and the Porsche 917 (1970). Two cars from the latest 24 Hours were present, with Audi R15 “Plus” and the BMW M3 “Art Car” respectively driven by Allan McNish and Andy Priaulx respectively.
The 2010 Festival of Speed also marked the first public appearance of McLaren’s new supercar: the MP4/12C driven by Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton. Ferrari also came with its wonderful 599 GTO and 458 Italia. The Festival of Speed also offered a sumptuous background many demonstrations of other supercars like the Citroën Révolte, the Lexus CT200h and the Audi e-tron seen at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
