Mathéo Tuscher will be joining Alexandre Imperatori and Dominik Kraihamer at the wheel of the #13 Rebellion R-One for the last two rounds of the World Endurance Championship. The 18-year-old will be replacing Daniel Abt who will be concentrating on his Formula E campaign.
World Endurance Championship: three drivers, two teams - Triple Le Mans winner Marcel Fässler is the only Swiss to have won the 24 Hours. He and teammates André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer are currently tussling for the drivers’ title just one point behind Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Mark Webber. Over at Porsche, Neel Jani, who started the last 24 Hours of Le Mans in pole position is still a serious candidate to win and current champion Sébastien Buemi is one of the fastest drivers on the circuit. In the FIA Endurance Trophy For Private LMP1 Teams, Rebellion Racing look increasingly likely to retain their title. In LM P2, Morand Racing quickly made their way into the top 5.
Asian Le Mans Series: Race Performance already a winner - The Swiss team have a successful record in European Le Mans Series and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They made a superb debut in the Asian Le Mans Series when Swiss driver Nicolas Leutwiler partnered Shinji Nakano of Japan to win the opening round at Fuji Speedway. With such a good start and such a solid record, they are already serious contenders for the crown.
European Le Mans Series: Gary Hirsch takes first prize - The Swiss driver joined Greaves Motorsport this year, a team with plenty of experience in LM P2 and a class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2011. With Björn Wirdheim and Jon Lancaster, he won two out of five races and took the LM P2 drivers’ title as well as a second LM P2 crown for the British team. Will he be back in the World Endurance Championship next season? Time will tell.
Ticket sales for the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans will open on Tuesday 3 November for ACO members and Friday 6 November for non-members.
