Martin Bartek who died on the 4th April had revived the legend of Ford in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year, thanks to the Ford GT developed by his company Matech Concepts. In 2011, it will be the turn of the American David Robertson to continue this story on Test Day.
"When I was racing as an amateur, I wondered what purpose would be reasonable ... and the 24 Hours, was beyond reasonable!" This was the comment of David Robertson in February when he learned that his two cars (one reserve), regulars in the American Le Mans Series, had been selected for Le Mans 2011. Even though this can not be called a Ford GT40, the memory of the winner of the 1968 and 69 24 Hours guarantees the driver a big American popularity rating. Also from the all-woman crew of Matech Competition last year, we will find a couple at the wheel of the Ford GT: David Robertson and his wife Andrea, with Boris Said who returns to La Sarthe for the first time since driving the Callaway Corvette in 1994.
The official test day of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be held on the 24th April.
