Improving on 2016 means winning more than two six-hour races (Fuji and Shanghai) and taking the World Endurance Champion for GTE Manufacturers. Little room for improvement at Le Mans, however, as it will difficult to go one better than a class win!
Ford aims to achieve this “ideal” season by relying on the stability of the Ford GT, even if the model has been tweaked, and the driver line-ups.
In the #66, Stefan Mücke and Olivier Pla will be joined by Billy Johnson for the first two rounds and for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Similarly, in the #67 sister car, the usual duo of Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell will be backed up by the very quick Luis Felipe (Pipo) Derani, who has moved across from the LM P2 class.
The first big test will be Sunday’s opening round at Silverstone (UK).
