From 1981 to 2006, Imola hosted the Grand Prix of San Marino. No former winner will the start of the fourth round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup in 2011, but two former Formula 1 drivers, who will be driving the same car, will rediscover the Italian circuit on the 3rd of July.

Giancarlo Fisichella raced eleven times the Grand Prix of San Marino, for Minardi in 1996,  Jordan (1997, 2002, 2003), Benetton (1998 to 2001), Sauber (2004) and Renault (2005,2006), with the best result a fourth place in 1997. He will share the wheel of the Ferrari F458 Italia #51 of AF Corse with Gianmaria Bruni who raced the Grand Prix of San Marino in 2004 for Minardi.

LM GTE winner at Spa-Francorchamps and second at Le Mans, the Italian duo will once again be one of the favorites in this category at Imola.
