Included in the ILMC calendar, the 24 Hours of Le Mans gave us one of the most intense and exciting races in history.
Only thirteen seconds separated the first two cars at the finish line where Audi gained a tenth victory in La Sarthe, a woman driver on the podium for the first time since 1931, a double success of Corvette in both categories ... The 24 Hours of Le Mans LM GTE win in 2011 brought honour to their legend and well deserved double points in the ILMC. The Le Mans result shuffles the cards for the rest of this season, with four races still to go. Peugeot has been defeated for the first time since the birth of the ILMC, but is still leader in the constructors with 34 points ahead of Audi. But with their tenth win at Le Mans, it is Audi Sport Team Joest ahead by a margin of just one point in the team standings. In LM P2, the consistency of the French team Signatech Nissan gives them a comfortable lead over Level 5 Motorsports, who now occupies second place thanks to their podium in La Sarthe.
In LM GTE, victory at Le Mans for Corvette gives them the lead, in front of Ferrari and BMW in Constructors points. The latter two continue their duel for the classification of teams LM GTE Pro: only four points separate AF Corse and BMW Motorsport. Victory in LM GTE Am propelled Larbre to the top of the teams standing, with 17 points. No doubt this success will be invaluable to Jack Leconte and his team to add a new title to one of the best track records in the recent history of GT and endurance racing.
Peugeot and Audi, BMW and Ferrari are among the teams of the 2011 ILMC, a new challenge awaits in Italy, in the great revival of endurance racing... 6 hours Imola will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of July 2011.
Here are the standings of the 2011 ILMC
