From the 24 Hours of Le Mans to the 2017 Goodwood Revival

This coming weekend, several previous 24 Hours of Le Mans overall or class winners will take a wheel at the Goodwood Revival, one of the top vintage car events on the European continent.

Unlike the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a hill climb held annually at the beginning of the summer, the Revival competitors organized in different Trophies compete in circuit races while the crowd (tickets have been sold out for the 2017 edition for several weeks now) watch on in period clothes.

Like every year, certain 24 Hours of Le Mans drivers participate, namely win record-holder Tom Kristensen with his nine victories, a regular at Goodwood set to take the wheel of a 1961 Jaguar Type E in the Kinrara Trophy (Kinrara is one of the titles bestowed to Lord March, owner of the property) and will reunite with the 1959 Ford Thunderbird with which he won in 2015 in the St. Mary's Trophy reserved for celebrities.

For the first race, the Dane will join another star of the 24 Hours: five-time winner Derek Bell at the wheel of a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB/C. For the second race, he will take on several previous Le Mans winners: Jackie Oliver (victorious in 1969 with a Ford GT40) with his own 1959 BMW 700, Mark Blundell (winner in 1992 with a Peugeot) in a Ford Zodiac, Darren Turner (who won the LMGTE Pro class with Aston Martin this year) with an MG and his Ford teammate Andy Priaulx with a Ford Zodiac.

The first overall winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Porsche, Richard Attwood will also be in attendance, as will Jochen Mass who won the 1989 edition with Sauber Mercedes.

Several other drivers who have competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans will also partake in the Goodwood Revival: former official Peugeot driver Nicolas Minassian, 2010 LMP2 winner Nick Leventis and Marino Franchitti joining a family affair as his wife Holly (daughter of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason) and his son Luca also figure on the entry list.

The pre-race sessions at the Goodwood Revival will kick off Friday, September 8th and the races will take place on Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th. For those unable to purchase a ticket, the event will be live streamed on Goodwood Road and Racing YouTube page.
