This video presents some highlights of the Grand Am series , including the iconic circuit at Daytona and the seven times Nascar champion Dale Earnhardt Sr. in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2001 , two weeks before his death in the last kilometres of the 500 miles race run on the same circuit , the title snatched by Alex Gurney ( son of Dan, Le Mans winner in 1967 ) in 2007, the announcement of the merger with the American Le Mans Series (ALMS ) on September 5, 2012 , with a handshake between the leaders of the two series , Jim France (left in picture) and Don Panoz ... This video ends with the year 2013, with the victorious return of the Audi GT to the 24 Hours of Daytona, and the double race weekend of ALMS and Grand Am on the track at Road America . In 2014, the Grand Am and the American Le Mans Series will no longer be a single series, but will join to form the Tudor United SportsCar Championship.
This video remembers the first coming of Grand Am to Indianapolis in 2012 ,at the road racing track inside the legendary oval ... with the first victory of Le Mans citizen, Sebastien Bourdais in the discipline.
