ALMS title holders Highcroft Racing present Honda's new weapon in LM P1
Powered by an evolved version of the 3.4 litre V8, that has been the basis of Honda's endurance racing since 2007, the ARX-01e has an aerodynamic package extensively modified by Nick Wirth, a close partner of the Japanese manufacturer. "Given the way the regulations have changed this year, it became natural to use the engine that brought us so much success in LM P2 to form the basis of our LM P1," said Steve Eriksen, Vice- President of Honda Performance Development.
Continuity also for Highcroft Racing, whose adventure with Honda has been fruitful both in LM P1 in LM P2: two titles, eleven wins, nine pole positions and 27 podiums in four years. "We are extremely proud of what we've done with HPD and Michelin over these four years," said Duncan Dayton, owner of the team.
The ARX-01e HPD will make its debut on the 19th March at the 12 Hours of Sebring, a race that is both the opening of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 2011 and the American Le Mans Series. Highcroft Racing is also selected for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will take place on 11th and 12th June
