Hypercars, LMP2s and LMGT3s in Le Mans city centre

Less than a week before the 24 Hours of Le Mans track action begins on Test Day, the city is ready to welcome the stars of the show: the cars. On Saturday 7 June from 3 p.m., 19 racing cars representing all three classes on the grid take to the streets for an exceptional city-centre procession.

Organised by the ACO and Le Mans city council for the third year running, the procession is a nod to the past, when 24 Hours of Le Mans competitors would drive to the circuit in their racing cars. This year the procession will complete two laps of the 2.1-kilometer circular route taking in the city’s best-known streets: tunnel Wilbur Wright, quai Louis Blanc, rue Gambetta, place de la République, boulevard René Levasseur, and avenue François Mitterrand.

A spectator-friendly route

This year, there are three excellent main vantage points – quai Louis Blanc, place de la République and place du Jet d’Eau (at the foot of the cathedral) – with entertainment and live commentary.

Free and open to all, the popular event is a taster of the effervescence to come during 24 Hours of Le Mans Race Week. Please note that for safety reasons pedestrians will not be able to cross the route during the procession.

Year after year, we do our utmost to offer racegoers and local people the best possible entertainment. I would like to thank Stéphane Le Foll and his team for their precious support in organising what is fast becoming a highlight of the run-up to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”

Stéphane Le Foll, Mayor of Le Mans: “The 19 Hypercars, LMP2s and LMGT3s that make up this Le Mans city centre procession symbolise the strong ties forged between the iconic race, and the Le Mans area. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is a celebration. The whole city takes on a party atmosphere. This procession, along with the Drivers Parade, demonstrates the very essence of this relationship: a meeting of passionate people and fantastic machines. When the race comes to town, we see that it belongs to all of us. It’s part of what we are. ‘Vive Le Mans!’”
