Having become a point of reference as a driver in LM P2 after several years in the ranks of OAK Racing and Onroak Automotive, the constructor that builds the Ligiers, Olivier Pla went from LM P1 in 2015 following an official driver contract with Nissan. The Japanese manufacturer's woes and slim program allowed the French native to spread out, namely in the 12 Hours of Sebring with Krohn Racing, finishing in eighth place.
Not waiting for the official announcement of the stop of the Nissan project in LM P1, Pla joined Ford for the marque's return to endurance. Two days after the revelation of its program in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) with Ford, it was Michael Shank Racing's turn to announce his recruitment for the four races of the NAEC, mini-championship within the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship combining the four endurance races of the season (Rolex 24 at Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, 6 Hours of Watkins Glen and Petit Le Mans).
The French driver will support John Pew, Ozz Negri and AJ Allmendinger in Florida for the first race of the season at the Daytona International Speedway on January 30th and 31st.
