IMSA - Tom Kristensen to serve as Grand Marshal at the Rolex 24 at Daytona

After Le Mans in 2015, Tom Kristensen, nine-time winner at the 24 Hours, has been named Grand Marshal of the 54th edition of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, opening round of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, new moniker of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

Rarely has a retiree been so very active! Since he took his last bow as a driver, Tom Kristensen has served as Grand Marshal many times and released packs of competitors after their warm-up lap. Tom "Mr. Le Mans" Kristensen filled the role at the 83rd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year and will do the same at the Daytona International Speedway on January 30th.

The Dane, win record-holder at the 24 Hours and at the 12 Hours of Sebring, hung up his hat at the end of the 2014 season, finishing his career with a podium finish at the final round of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) at Sao Paulo, Brazil. Nonetheless, he competed at the Race of Champions in London in December, but without the win in the finale.

Tom K. has not left Audi, the constructor with whom he won seven of his nine trophies at Le Mans, since he handles driver preparation for the marque all while serving as one of its ambassadors.
