Anyone who is familiar with the Road Atlanta track knows that it is particularly unforgiving in wet weather and that heavy rain is the opportunity for a GT to beat the prototypes. Right from the green flag, it was evident that the GTs had an advantage on the wet track and at the halfway point, Nick Tandy began to see overall victory within his grasp, a victory as surprising as his Le Mans 24 Hours win in June last year.
When Tandy and Patrick Pilet began taking out the prototypes one by one, things were definitely looking good. The race was curtailed while they were ahead and the pair notched up another Porsche win for the record books.
