Indianapolis 500 – Pagenaud and Alonso to share a row on the starting grid

The 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 is tomorrow, 23 August! Among the competitors on the starting grid led by poleman Marco Andretti (grandson of Mario) are Simon Pagenaud and Fernando Alonso on the ninth row.

The start at the 104th Indianapolis 500 will be given tomorrow at 13:00 local time. The race is always full of remarkable stories and anecdotes, and this year's running is already no exception.

On the ninth row of the starting grid is 2019 winner Simon Pagenaud (Team Penske) who hopes to return to Le Mans soon to clinch the victory that escaped him in 2011 by 13 seconds. At his side, Fernando Alonso (Arrow McLaren) – two-time F1 world champion, FIA world endurance champion and two-time winner of the 24 Hours – in his quest for victory at Indianapolis and the coveted Triple Crown (F1 world title and wins at Le Mans and the Indy 500). If he succeeds, he will join Graham Hill, currently the only winner of the crown, with his win at Le Mans in 1972 with Henri Pescarolo, his win at the Indy 500 in 1966 and his 1962 and 1969 F1 world champion titles.
