It’s holiday time for our endurance drivers too!

Between the 6 Hours of Nürburgring on 24 July and the next race, the 6 Hours of Mexico on 3 September, some of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) racing drivers are enjoying a few days’ holiday. Read on to find out what our favourite drivers are up to this August!

Russian driver Vitaly Petrov, who races in LM P2 with SMP Racing, took a trip to the Maldives, where he had a stint on a Flyboard, a kind of hoverboard with a jetpack that propels the rider into the air. “I felt like Ironman!” Petrov joked.

Fellow LM P2 driver Nelson Panciatici (Signatech Alpine) is spending time with his family and shared a photo of himself and his 92-year-old grandmother!

Andy Priaulx, one of the WEC Ford works drivers, is also enjoying time off with his family. He’s been walking and cycling at home in the UK and also went along to cheer on his son, who is just starting out on his racing career. Teammate Marino Franchitti was also present at the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Scotland’s Knockhill racing circuit last 13 August when Priaulx Junior came away with a victory.

Sébastien Buemi came close to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and is reigning Formula E champion. After a busy start to the year competing in two championships, he is using the break to “recharge his batteries” in Monaco.

Porsche works driver and winner of the 6  Hours of Nürburgring, Brendon Hartley attended a friend’s wedding in Bali. He stayed on to holiday there for a few days before going over to help Mark Webber celebrate his 40th birthday. His Porsche teammate Romain Dumas, winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Pikes Peak hill climb in June, appears unable to enjoy life in the slow lane: he was spotted taking his young son out on a speedboat!
