Jackie Chan presented the 24 Hours of Le Mans trophy at the Shanghai lnt'l Film Festival

Actor Jackie Chan was given a huge surprise at the gala dinner for Jackie Chan Action Movie Week at the Shanghai International Film Festival: the 24 Hours of Le Mans second place overall trophy!

The Jackie Chan DC Racing team, who entrusted the development of its two cars to Jota Sport, made history this past weekend by claiming the second and third steps on the overall podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with two "small" prototypes. It was a first since the creation of the LMP2 class in which the Chinese outfit, led by former ACO General Manager Rémy Brouard, achieved a one-two after the disqualification of the #13 Vaillante Rebellion initially third overall and second in LMP2 for non-compliance.

Alex Brundle and Ho-Pin Tung - two of Jackie Chan DC Racing's three drivers in the #38 Oreca 07-Gibson (Mighty38 or Super 38), second overall and the winner in LMP2 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans last week - and team co-owner David Cheng took the stage and presented the trophy to Jackie Chan, who after the race had compared winning the trophy to taking home an Oscar!

Though Jackie Chan DC Racing was not the first Chinese team to win the LMP2 class as that honor went to KCMG (representing Hong Kong) in 2015, Ho-Pin Tung - along with Alex Brundle (the son of Martin Brundle, winner at the 1990 24 Hours of Le Mans with Jaguar) and 19-year-old driver Thomas Laurent - became the first Chinese driver in history to clinch a class win and reach a step on the overall podium.

Unfortunately, Jackie Chan, who did attend the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans, was unable to witness in person his team's triumph due to professional obligations. The surprise arranged by the two drivers and Chan's colleague was the highlight of the night. The win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, on the other hand, wasn't quite as surprising given that the trio won the opening round of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) at Silverstone this past April…
