Juan Pablo Montoya, IndyCar Series driver and winner of the Indianapolis 500 this year, paid a visit to the Porsche team today at the Circuit of the Americas for Lone Star Le Mans. A motorsports buff, the Colombian could very well soon be at the wheel of the Porsche, as the German manufacturer confirms talks of test sessions.
Though the link between Juan Pablo Montoya and Porsche is not obvious at first glance, one must remember the Colombian driver from Penske worked several years in F1 with Williams-BMW, like many of the engineers in the German manufacturer's LM P1 program. Montoya's visit in Porsche's garage at Austin was more to feel things out than it was a courtesy visit, as confirmed by both parties.
Montoya, a competitor at heart, most likely has Graham Hill's record in mind: the one-two-three of the Indianapolis 500, the Grand Prix of Monaco and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Though the Colombian who will soon turn 40 and who has also dabbled in NASCAR, will continue in the IndyCar Series with Penske in 2016, who knows what his future will bring, especially since he has already won the Rolex 24 at Daytona three times!
