After their triple crown (24 Heures du Mans, Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, Le Mans Series) won in 2010, Larbre Competition did not take long to announce the team's response to the end of the LM GT1 category.
After the 'farewell tour' of the Saleen S7-R this year, the French team will again run with an American car in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 2011, this time a Corvette and with the factory status. Gabriele Gardel, who has already won four titles with Jack Leconte's team, will be alongside Julien Canal, who was very convincing throughout the 2010 campaign, and Patrick Bornhauser who is rewarded for a decade of loyalty to Larbre Competition in French GT, by a season at international level. The entry of a second car is also planned at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The French team will certainly face severe competition (BMW, Porsche, Aston Martin, Ford, and the Ferrari 458 Italia). Remember though, that they are one of the most frequent winners in the recent history of GT racing with cars as diverse as the Ferrari 550 Maranello, Aston Martin DBR9 or the Saleen S7-R. No doubt with this reputation, as well as the confidence of GM/Corvette (who are entrusting a factory car for the first time to a European team) Larbre Competition will be a formidable competitor in 2011.
