Lucas di Grassi's helmet sports the "Auriverde" (gold and green in Portuguese) of his national flag, the design of these colours was quite crafty… and the colour palette almost involuntary!
Lucas di Grassi: "My father had given me a white helmet, pure of any other colour. I didn't know that I could paint it, so I bought rolls of blue and green tape because those were the only colours I could find. I placed them in such a way that they would form a cross at the top of the helmet. Two years later, I bought another helmet and it dawned on me that I could paint it. Since I used the first one a lot, I wanted to keep the same style of design for the new helmet and I still use it today, after of course having added my name and my partners, as well as some colour effects. But the starting drawing is identical to the one I had originally created. I have been wearing it now for 20 years."
