On February 13th, at the ACO press conference, the name Sébastien Loeb Racing team was mentioned twice as it figures on the entry lists of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in the LM P2 class.
Appointed main driver of the No. 24 Oreca 03-Nissan at Le Mans, René Rast will discover the race for first time, just as will the young Laurens Vanthoor, whose participation was announced later. The third driver, Vincent Capillaire, will also make his debut on the 24 Hours circuit, even if he knows the Bugatti circuit perfectly, having been driver instructor at the driving school. The native Le Mans driver was originally supposed to compete in the ELMS season and in La Sarthe with the Boutsen-Ginion Racing team, fourth on the reservists list of the Le Mans classic.
Winner of the Volant ELF in 1996, Vincent Capillaire has dreamed of being at the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans since childhood. "I am living a childhood dream," he said. Supported by the SO24! association whose purpose is to help drivers from La Sarthe, Capillaire conducted a private test session in Portugal earlier this week with his new teammates, which allowed him to get behind the wheel of the car he will race for the entire 2014 season of the ELMS. However, he does not yet know the identity of his teammates, even though Andreas Zuber was named main driver.
