Le Mans Classic -1994 Le Mans Dodge Viper RT-10 in search of a buyer

The customary Artcurial Motorcars sale will run alongside the Le Mans Classic track events next weekend, 8–10 July. As usual, the sale includes cars that have raced at Le Mans.

Among the 115 vintage machines is a 1947 3-litre Delage D6 that ran the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1949 as well as a 1977 Porsche 935 that was entered in 1978, 1979 and 1980 with Hervé Poulain at the wheel.

One of the stars of the show is a Dodge Viper RT-10 that was on the grid of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1994. It was the first Dodge Viper to be entered in Sarthe, without the manufacturer’s support. Journalist and team manager Gilles Gainault decided to enter two Viper RT-10s of his own accord.

When the cars were presented at scrutineering, the crowd fell in love. The fluorescent yellow and orange liveries and sleek design were definitely eye-catching.

The car on sale at Le Mans Classic is a canary yellow #41 Dodge Viper RT 10 entered by the Rent-A-Car Racing Team and driven by François Migault, Denis Morin and Philippe Gache. It finished the 1994 Le Mans 24 Hours but did not cover enough distance to be classified. Its bright orange sister car, the #40 driven by René Arnoux, Justin Bell and Bertrand Balas finished twelfth overall and second in GT1.

Following the encouraging results, Chrysler decided to field an official works team via French outfit Oreca and entered the Viper GTS-R. The car won several championship titles and major races including three GT1 class wins at Le Mans in 1998, 1999 and 2000.

The Artcurial sale will be on Saturday 9 July
