The Jota eSport team won the first sprint race of the qualifying round that kicked off the second season of the Le Mans Esports Series. Then Lazarus won the 15-lap endurance race played out on the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit.

The Lazarus team's two drivers, Dan Nyman and Tobin Leigh, are now leading the classification after the first round. The team's second place finish in the sprint race coupled with its win in the endurance race earned it 56 points in the overall rankings. The performance in the endurance race was all the more remarkable given the outfit started from the 15th spot on the starting grid. Tobin Leigh then proceeded to execute a stunning comeback. Jota eSport trails Lazarus in the classification with 48 points. The two teams are clearly dominating the competition so far.

The RedBull Racing Esports team did not fare as well, finding itself in eighth position in the overall rankings after this first qualifying round with only 15 points. The world champion team on Forza Motorsport 7 will have to up its game in the coming races. Credit to Alexandre Arnou however for his efforts after the incident in the Dunlop chicane early in race 2.

The next race for professional esports competitors is scheduled for 1 February with the Mazda 787B at the Silverstone circuit, shortly after the esports showcase at the Autosport International show on 11 January.
