Going into this weekend's fifth round of the 2020 Le Mans Esports Series, Red Bull Racing Esports held a 10-point lead on Lazarus Racing. The last round of Season 2 would decide the leader in the championship, Lazarus Racing or Red Bull Racing Esports, before the Super Final at Le Mans. Daniel Nyman (Lazarus Racing) won the first race thanks to expert handling of the Porsche 911 RSR GTE and gave his team a chance at the title, but in the end, Red Bull Racing Esports won a well-deserved victory after a stellar season.

AN EDGE-OF-YOUR-SEAT SPRINT RACE

At the start, Lazarus Racing had the advantage thanks to an error by Aurélien Mallet at the wheel of Red Bull Racing Esports' Porsche. He dropped back to 10th as Daniel Nyman slipped into fourth position. Additionally, Jacob Bowkett (Total Performance Racing) and Geves Renaud (Ryze Motorsport) had trouble with the Raidillon corner.

Victory was within sight for Michael Thomas Coyne of Solar Vision Racing until the next-to-last lap when Daniel Nyman snatched the lead coming out of the Combes corner. The final podium saw Daniel Nyman of Lazarus Racing on the top step, Michael Thomas Coyne of Solar Vision Racing on the second and Aurélien Mallet of Red Bull Racing Esports the third.

A STEADY BUT EXCITING ENDURANCE RACE

For the start of the 25-lap endurance race, Robin Betka took the wheel for Red Bull Racing Esports in 14th position and Daniel Nyman in 15th for Lazarus Racing. This reversed grid combined with intermittent rain made for quite a thrilling round. Nyman incurred a five-second penalty for causing an accident (with the Esport Ford driver Miguel Molina) early in the race. Red Bull Racing Esports' Robin Betka took the lead from Light Speed Esports' Mariano Rubalcava Ocana thanks to pit stops and never let go. He gave his team its fifth win of the season, enough to finish first in the championship and take home the $10,000 prize.

Lazarus Racing finished second in the final standings ahead of Total Performance Racing and Fast Racers Forza. Solar Vision Raving managed to qualifying thanks to its fifth place finish, and Ryze Motorsport was the last team to earn its seat at the Super Final. The Virtualdrivers By TX3 team failed to qualify in seventh place.
