Le Mans Esports Series – The Super Final is underway

The Super Final of the 2020 Le Mans Esports Series kicked off today, Tuesday 14 September. Eighteen teams will battle it out until Friday in hopes of winning a thrilling second season.

Drivers have begun their high octane week at the Bugatti circuit for four days of competition in all the legendary eras of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Each day will include four hours of racing: two one-hour sprint races, then one two-hour endurance race.

Eighteen teams are entered in the Super Final: nine in the Pro class, nine in the Pro-Am class, sharing the track at the same time. Every day the two teams with the lowest classification in each class will be eliminated, leaving 12 driver line-ups in the Final.

The 1950s and 1960s served as the setting for the races on Monday. Robin Betka (b0x) took control of the race from the start and never let up. Lap after lap, he steadily carved out his lead to 10 seconds at mid-race. Even with the arrival of rain in the 20th lap, he didn't falter. Behind him a battle raged between Lazarus Racing and Williams Esports, and Solar Vision Racing and Ryze Motortsport didn't give up much ground either with Wolves of Dawn and Fast Racers Forza hot on their tails. In the end, Wolves of Dawn earned two points and Fast Racers Forza four.

In the Pro-Am class, LM Squad led the race and claimed the top step on the podium. Tertre Rouge Rangers, Setup Demons, Lemans Legends and Apex Hunters represented by drivers we already know well fought fiercely throughout the race. Endurance Elite earned two points and Hotlappers four.
