"Le Mans Pit Lane," studies of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in black and white

The 24 Hours of Le Mans has infiltrated Paris in the Galerie Six at the Saint-Michel boulevard near the Jardin du Luxembourg for an exposition from April 27th through May 11th paying homage to "Le Mans Pit Lane," a book of art as well as a remarkable work about the human condition.

Published in three languages (French, English and German), "Le Mans Pit Lane" includes more than 400 photos exclusively in black and white: taken on the spot during a refueling, of a face, in the middle of mechanical work, during a pit stop, of a helmet...it's all about exposing everything we don't necessarily get to see. The book covers among other things a full decade in the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2006-2016), and allows fans to take stock of the technological evolution fostered by the 24 Hours of Le Mans, from the first win for a diesel engine (2006) to today's LMP1 hybrid prototypes.

"Le Mans Pit Lane" also describes a chance meeting. Training director and expert in motosports dioramas within his outfit Chrono 43, Jean-Claude Baudier, seeking an assistant to make the book happen, met Lucie Hodiesne. Encouraged by the photographic eye of the young student, he asked her to join him at the 2016 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and to become co-author of "Le Mans Pit Lane."

So Lucie Hodiesne headed for Le Mans and immersed herself in a world completely foreign to her, but that she photographed enthusiastically and from a completely new point of view, contributing in a significant way to the success of the book, offering a fresh perspective on the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a perfect counter to Jean-Claude Baudier, a veteran of the legendary race and its culture.

Today, entirely of her own volition, Lucie Hodiesne is an avid fan of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which she will attend this year along with Jean-Claude Baudier in celebration of the release of their art book, certain images from which will be put on display at the Espace Paul Frère.

To learn more, go to Galerie Six (76 boulevard Saint-Michel, 75006 Paris) until May 11th, or info@chrono43.com.
