The Automobile Club de l’Ouest has envisaged a scoring tower similar to the one at Indianapolis.
To help follow the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the ACO have many initiatives such as installing giant screens around the circuit ... There were 10 in 2012. But perhaps there is one last thing missing, something that's both useful and aesthetic ...
The ability to erect a building capable of informing viewers of the classification at any time of the tests had been touched on by Fabrice Bourrigaud in February 2011. "After the Dunlop bridge and the Rolex clock, we also think of something that could become the third icon of the circuit: a tower like the one at Indianapolis, which would indicate race postions on each side", suggested the Director of Marketing and Communication of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest.
The idea resurfaced during the press conference on Thursday the 14th of June 2012, in the build-up to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. "It's a project for 2013, confirmed the new president of the ACO Pierre Fillon. "A digital tower will be located at the top of the pit lane." The remaining question is what will be the exact height of the monument?
