To celebrate its 17th win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche served up a treat for the Goodwood crowds by presenting a few of the models that have marked the history of the German marque. The cars that thrilled the British public included the Porsche 956 (Derek Bell/Jacky Ickx) from the early 1980s, the Porsche 962 C that won in 1987 (Bell-Hans Stuck-Al Holbert), a Porsche LM P1/98 (driven by James Weaver, David Murry and Pierre Henri Raphanel in 1998) and Bell/Ickx’s 1981 Le Mans-winning Porsche 936/81.
The highlight of the show was undoubtedly the No. 19 Porsche 919 Hybrid, winner a few weeks ago at Le Mans. For the occasion, Porsche factory driver Brendon Hartley, runner-up at this year’s 24 Hours, slid behind the wheel. Still marked with traces of dirt, the LM P1 enraptured the crowd!
