Petit Le Mans marked both the penultimate round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and the last race of the American Le Mans Series 2011. In LM P2, the American team Level 5 Motorsports won a victory in the first and title in the second.

Driving the HPD ARX-01g #33, Scott Tucker, Christophe Bouchut and Joao Barbosa finished victorious in LM P2 and sixth overall. Bouchut and Barbosa also won the drivers' championship in  ALMS LM P2. Level 5 Motorsports also took a second 2011 title in the team standings, and also two invitations to the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours. The second car Level 5 Motorsports, driven by Scott Tucker, Luis Diaz and Marino Franchitti (#055) was fifth in LM P2. Taking pole position for the class, it  met with turbo problems early in the race. After spending an hour and a quarter in the pits, the HPD then set a record laptime of 1'13''860 by Marino Franchitti.

Scott Tucker (driver and owner of Level 5 Motorsports): "Christophe Bouchut and Joao Barbosa have done an excellent job, they were consistent and perfect. Remember that our car is only three weeks old, and has just completed a 6 hour race at Laguna Seca, and another 1000 miles of Petit Le Mans. It's a real privilege to have such material. "

David Stone (Level 5 Motorsports Team Manager): "Despite an impressive start of the Honda engine / chassis, we must continue development. We will be in Zhuhai next month with the goal of victory, and I think it is realistic to believe it. "

The next race in 2011 for Level 5 Motorsports will be the 6 Hours of Zhuhai (China), the seventh and final round of the ILMC be held from 11 to 13 November.
