Reigning champions Dyson Racing had a hard struggle for pole position at their home track in the fourth round of the 2012 American Le Mans Series.
Guy Smith (Dyson Racing Lola-Mazda) and Lucas Luhr (Honda HPD ARX-03a Pickett Racing Muscle Milk) had a great battle in qualifying, only separated by 0.102 seconds at Lime Rock Park. Hondas first and second in LM P2, with the HPD ARX-03b of Level 5 Motorsports setting the fastest time. The French driver Christophe Bouchut (Honda HPD ARX-03b) gave the American team their third pole position in four races, while team owner Scott Tucker set the second fastest time. Also note the strong performance of the Morgan-Nissan of Conquest Endurance Racing: David Heinemeier-Hansson and Martin Plowman will start from the third position behind the wheel of the chassis from the workshops of the French team Oak Racing, based in Le Mans.
In GT, Bill Auberlen celebrated its hundredth start in the American Le Mans Series by setting the pole position time for the first time in his career at Lime Rock Park, driving the BMW M3 he shares with Jörg Müller. They are ahead of the works Corvette of Tommy Milner / Oliver Gavin and the other BMW M3 of Joey Hand / Dirk Müller.
