Lola Cars and Drayson Racing Technologies LLP have announced a partnership  for the production of a 100% electric prototype in 2013.

Drayson Racing and Lola have already worked together successfully in the American Le Mans Series season in 2010 with a victory in the seventh round of the season with the bioethanol fuelled Lola-Judd that also competed in the Le Mans 24 Hours 2010. In this new partnership, the British manufacturer will be responsible for developing the chassis, while the company of the former government minister turned racing driver, will be responsible for the development of electric drive train. The Lola-Drayson B12/69EV  will be presented during the last quarter of 2011, and aims to compete in the FIA championship reserved for electric cars announced for 2013.

"I have known Lord Paul Drayson for some time now and I am aware of his many successes as a science entrepreneur in the UK." said Martin Birrane, Executive Chairman, of Lola Group. "The team at Lola are looking forward to delivering this and many other innovative programmes."

As for Paul Drayson, he speaks of the potential of this project with his customary enthusiasm: "The Lola-Drayson B12/69EV will act as a racing laboratory, catalysing technology innovation and driving commercial application in the automotive and related industries.”
