Guy Smith claimed his second pole position in the American Le Mans Series, while Joey Hand confirmed the excellent early season for BMW.
Prototypes; in the absence of the HPD ARX-01e of Highcroft Racing it is a duel between Lola chassis on the streets of Long Beach. The Mazda engined car of Chris Dyson / Guy Smith (Dyson Racing) outstrippied Klaus Graf / Lucas Luhr (Team CytoSport), powered by Aston Martin, with a small gap in favour of Smith (1’14’’001) ahead of Graf (1’14’’453).
In LM GTE, BMW and Rahal Letterman Lanigan continued the momentum of Sebring. Winners in Florida, Joey Hand and Dirk Muller set the best time (7th on the grid) ahead the Corvette of Jan Magnussen / Oliver Gavin and the second BMW of Dirk Werner / Bill Auberlen.
