Present at every 24 Hours of Le Mans from 2001 to 2009, Luc Alphand has decided to hang up his helmet.

The tough but wise decision was strongly recommended by his physician. Last year, the former skier suffered a serious motorcycle accident which nearly cost him his life. Down but not out, the athlete now needs to turn to a new sport.

After the sale of its premises in the Technoparc to Oak Racing, his team's future now seems uncertain. In ten appearances, the enterprise managed by Philippe Poincloux won three podium finishes in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2006, 2009, 2010) and two titles in the Le Mans Series (2008, 2009). The team gained a third place in the heart of the Corvette - Aston Martin duel in 2006. This opened the door to a special partnership with General Motors.

"Lucho'' the race driver will remain in the collective memory of the Le Mans paddock for his unquenchable good humour.
