You were in LM P2 last year with Thiriet by TDS Racing. You are now in LM P1. What are the differences between the two classes?
"Driving an LM P1 is just awesome. There are still seven seconds between the two groups on the circuit at Spa! LM P1 is better everywhere, engine, aerodynamics. It is also different because we have quite a special set of electronic tools. They are more complex and complete systems than in LM P2. It is more open and it gives more opportunities to work on things."
What are your feelings as a driver at the wheel of an LM P1?
"Here at Spa, it was the first time I did a dry qualifying session on new tyres. It is true that I have a great feeling with a lot of grip. It goes fast and is quickly up to speed. In a closed car it gives sensations other than those I have known in LM P2."
Is it more physical?
"I train a lot, and LM P2, the physical aspect has never bothered me. In LM P1, we really see the need to prepare well physically, epecially on long runs. The hardest thing is the neck because I've never done F1 or GP2, I am not used to it. As I said, it goes fast here in Spa, we are less than two seconds off the best time of a GP2 and 300 pounds heavier, plust we have less horsepower!"
How is your learning curve with Rebellion Racing?
"It's going very well! The team is really great with me! We were in the Spa WEC to score big points in the championship. We also learned to work together with the crew. We need continuity in order to give the best every time. Compared to the factory teams, we have so little testing, each race allows us to test new things for other races. We have a lot of new developments on the car, which is positive but it is now that they are exploited to the maximum."
You will take part in your second Le Mans 24 Hours. How do you see the race?
"Our performance is already more acceptable than what we have seen in the past and the balance of private vs factory, and I think at Le Mans, the difference will be greater. We do not have the same budgets as factories and we can not pretend that the ACO provides the means for us to be in front of the factory teams or for us to fight with them. By on the other hand we must be able to be there if they make any mistakes, ready to fight! I hope this will be the case at the 24 Hours of Le Mans!"
What will your programme be after the 24 Hours of Le Mans?
"It is not yet complete! But my goal is to continue with the team and be able to race with them more often this year. We'll see how it can be organized after Le Mans. I hope to continue in the World Endurance Championship! "
