In the video above is the aerodynamic study for the McLaren P1, presented at the Paris Motor Show 2012, which marks a new step for the British manufacturer. For more clips go to www.lemans-tv.com.

McLaren have 180 wins and twenty titles in Formula 1, and their founder, the New Zealand driver Bruce McLaren, won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 with his compatriot Chris Amon. They also had a victory in La Sarthe as a manufacturer in 1995 with the F1 GTR.

Bruce McLaren died prematurely on the Goodwood circuit (Great Britain) at the age of 33, during a test session in 1970. At that time, he was a partner of the Gulf Oil Company, whose blue and orange colour scheme is emblematic of this period in the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the Ford GT40 and Porsche 917. But in Formula 1, Indianapolis and Can Am McLaren they also sported an all-over orange livery. This colour now graces the MP4-12C and the recent P1. Full specification could be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2013 ... might they return to the GT class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the MP4-12C? Time will tell. Although Bruce McLaren left us far too soon, his work survives him brilliantly, both on track and on the road.
