New Lotus on track.

The T128 LM P2 has turned its first laps at Le Castellet with Jan Charouz in the driver line-up.

Originally scheduled for January, the highly anticipated debut of the Lotus LMP2 took place yesterday, Saturday the 29th of March 29, in the the official testing for the FIA World Endurance Championship on the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit. British driver James Rossiter had the honour of trying out the new car that was constructed in Germany. The native of Oxford this year will be associated with the Czech Jan Charouz (ex-Renault F1 Team) and Dominik Kraihamer (formerly Oak Racing) and Thomas Holzer. Two examples of the black and gold prototype will be competing in the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Stéphane Choose, designer of the Lotus T128: "We are proud to see the results of our work on the track. We worked on the development of the T128 over the past twelve months. Our many years of presence in Formula 1 and endurance racing have helped shape this car which should allow us to play a leading role in LM P2. The aerodynamic development began with an intensive program of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), followed by wind tunnel testing. A special effort has been made in terms of safety and in terms of manoeuvrability. "

We have to wait until the 14th of April and the 6 Hours of Silverstone WEC to get a real idea of the potential of the new rival to Alpine, Oreca, Morgan, Zytek, Lola, Honda and others ...
