Victim of a huge accident during practice for the 1000 km of Spa-Francorchamps, Mike Newton will be restored to fitness for the 24 Hours of Le Mans ... and so will his car!

On Thursday, 5th May in the second free practice session, the #36 Honda was struck by the Peugeot 908 #9 Pedro Lamy (see photo). At over 270 km/h, and was launched into terrible slide that ended violently in the tyre wall. The driver Mike Newton was taken to hospital in Verviers but he left a few hours later. A week later, he is recovering from his accident and is in preparation for his ninth appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Mechanics, are working very hard to prepare the prototype for Monday, 6th Juneat Scrutineering. "We must completely rebuild the car, " said Anne Morel. "The engineers know they will have to work twelve hours a day and sacrificing their weekends to be ready ... And they will! "
