Nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen inducted into the Danish Hall of Fame

Though he retired from competition back at the end of the 2014 season, the accolades keep coming for Tom Kristensen, particularly in his native country. "Monsieur 50%" - nine wins in 18 participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans - has become a legend in Denmark where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame this past Saturday.

A great champion on the track, but also in the hearts and minds of the Danish people, many of whom used to make the trip south to Le Mans mid-June to cheer on their idol, Tom Kristensen - the first racing car driver inductee - unveiled the bust that will reside in Brøndby at the Danish Pantheon alongside three other Danish legends, Ole Olsen, Erik Gundersen and Hans Nielsen, who made their mark on two wheels.

Knighted by the Queen, 2013 World Endurance Champion Tom Kristensen currently holds the win record not only at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (nine victories), but also at Sebring (six) where a corner on the circuit now bears his name and where he was welcomed into the Hall of Fame in 2016. The Grand Marshal of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015, the native of Hobro will attempt to win one of the only victories, honorary, missing from his legacy this coming February at the Race of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
