Nyck de Vries to replace Jan Lammers for Racing Team Nederland after Le Mans

Nyck de Vries is set to join Racing Team Nederland for the 2018-19 FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) Super Season, after the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans. He will replace former Le Mans winner Jan Lammers at the wheel of the LMP2 Dallara.

Veteran Jan Lammers will take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans this June in the Dallara P217 fielded by Racing Team Nederland. After the race, he will hand over to Nyck de Vries, 23, for the remainder of the 2018-19 FIA WEC Super Season. De Vries will therefore line up at the 6 Hours of Silverstone in August and make his Le Mans début in 2019.

The former McLaren protégé won the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 title in 2014 before graduating to Formula Renault 3.5 Series the following year. He finished the 2015 season in third place behind two drivers who will be appearing in the 86th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Matthieu Vaxivière (TDS Racing) and Oliver Rowland (CEFC TRSM Racing). De Vries subsequently switched to the GP3 Series, and then last year to Formula 2, where he will continue to compete in 2018.

Racing Team Nederland, 11th in LMP2 on its initial Le Mans appearance in 2017, will therefore field a 100% Dutch line-up throughout the 2018-19 FIA WEC Super Season. The other drivers will be Frits van Eerd, owner of the Jumbo supermarket chain and main team sponsor, and former Formula One driver Giedo van der Garde.
