Although the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP of Team Oreca Matmut will be absent for 6 hours Imola, nine cars built in the workshops of Hugues de Chaunac at Signes, will be there by as many teams to compete at the Italian circuit. Four of them are among the great leaders of the LM P2 category.
Three weeks after the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Oreca takes the track again at the fourth round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, the 6 Hours of Imola, where fifty cars are expected. The Italian round will also be the scene of the third round Le Mans Series. Second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and author of the pole position, the team Signatech-Nissan will try to continue this preformance. The trio Mailleux / Ayari / Ordonez will again be in command of the Oreca 03 #26. The team arrives at Imola as leader in ILMC. A position that the team of Philippe Sinault and Didier Calmels look forward to defending.
Winner of the 1000 km of Spa-Francorchamps in May, TDS Racing is also among the favorites. The objective of Thiriet/Beche/Firth will be to rise in the rankings of Drivers and Teams. Currently second in the standings, Boutsen Energy Racing, were second in the Belgian Ardennes, with Dominik Kraihamer and Nicolas De Crem. Two drivers who had a faultless 24 Hours of Le Mans, the first in the Team Oreca-Matmut, the second at OAK Racing. Along with three Nissan engined ORECA 03, Race Performance will race a Judd pwered Oreca 03, again entrusted to Ralph Meichtry and Michel Frey. The Swiss team hopes to improve on their sixth place at Le Mans. Faced with stiff competition, consisting among others of Honda, Lola, Zytek and Pescarolo-OAK, these four teams can count on the performance of the prototype designed in the workshops of Signes, which set three of four poles since the beginning of the year. With of these competitive teams, the 03 Oreca will attempt to enrich its record and confirm the victory gained at Spa.
With two wins in two races, Pegasus Racing (Schell / Schulte / Simon) dominates the category of Formula Le Mans in the Le Mans Series, but the competition is tough. Starting with Genoa Racing (Julian / Zügel / Petersen) and Neil Garner Motorsport (Keating / Keen / Hartshorne), who each won two podiums. JMB Racing Racing and Hope are also counted among the serious candidates for victory with their Oreca FLM 09. In the Swiss team, note that Tor Graves will be joined now by Zhang Shanqi and Luca Moro.
