The first time Patrick Dempsey came to Le Mans was in 2009, as the new ‘actor-driver’ he responded to all demands on his time, and he made himself available to the media and public alike. His kindness and generosity were greatly appreciated. For his return to Le Mans in 2013 he is no longer seen as just Dr Derek Shepherd, star of Greys Anatomy but as a serious racing driver. On track he wants to be a driver just like the others, despite the incessant media pressure. For this reason he has decided not to give any interviews during the week of this great race. As well as driving in the race he is being followed around by a film crew who are shooting every detail of his involvement with the team. This is for a four-part documentary series that he is producing in partnership with Disney for broadcast on the American Discovery Channel.

During yesterday evening, the No. 77 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR he shares with Patrick Long and Joe Foster, never left the top 10 in LM GTE Am. They finished in ninth place at the end of free practice and then seventh in the first qualifying session. Patrick Dempsey will be on track again on Thursday, June 20, from 19:00 to 21:00 and from 22:00 to midnight.
